Who Qualifies to Participate?


  1. Male or female, ages between 18-70 years old, with written informed consent indicating awareness of the investigational nature of the study and an ability to participate in the strength training element of the study. Click here for a video explaining and demonstrating the exercise program. 
  2. Moderately overweight or obese individuals (Body Mass Index greater than 28) who are healthy or who have certain conditions/risk factors which might improve with weight management (e.g., pre-diabetes, diabetes, mild hypertension, elevated cholesterol).


  1. Individuals with cancer.
  2. Pregnant or lactating women. Women of child-bearing age should not be planning to become pregnant during the 6-month study.
  3. Anyone known to have hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in the study nutritional products.
  4. Individuals with a Body Mass Index of less than 28
  5. Individuals currently or recently (within past 6 months) using any prescribed or over the counter weight loss medication. Subjects must not use any additional weight loss product during the study.
  6. Anyone unwilling or unable to commit to participate for at least 3 months. (Note: Subjects may withdraw consent at any time, but potential subjects who know when invited that they will not engage for 3 months should not be enrolled in the study.)
  7. Anyone unable or unwilling to participate in the twice weekly exercise program, which was developed by Dr. Wayne Westcott and colleagues at Quincy College, Quincy, MA. Click here for a video explaining and demonstrating the exercise program: 
  8. Anyone that the researcher considers not qualified for this study, particularly based on a condition or non-study treatment likely to impact body weight over the course of the study
